Ranjan Sapkota

I'm a **graduate research assistant** in **computer vision and agricultural robotics** at **Cornell University** currently working on **agentic AI systems and vision-language models for autonomous agricultural applications**. I previously did research at **Washington State University** working with **Dr. Manoj Karkee and collaborators in precision agriculture**. My work focuses on **developing intelligent robotic systems that integrate perception, reasoning, and action for real-world agricultural automation**.
My research spans multiple domains including **agentic AI architectures, vision-language-action models, and autonomous UAV systems**. I'm particularly interested in how **large language models can be combined with computer vision** to create more adaptable and context-aware agricultural robots. Recent projects include developing **YOLO-based object detection systems for fruit counting and sizing**, creating **synthetic datasets using LLMs for training agricultural AI models**, and exploring **trust, risk, and security management frameworks for agentic multi-agent systems**.
I'm passionate about bridging the gap between **theoretical AI advances and practical agricultural applications**, with a focus on developing systems that can operate reliably in complex, unstructured orchard environments. My work aims to **reduce chemical usage, improve crop management precision, and enhance the sustainability of agricultural practices** through intelligent automation and human-AI collaboration.
